HONORARY MEMBER CARL SCHNEIDER PASSES AWAY BY ALF. E. WEROLIN AMICA Jan/Feb 1977 Word has just been received that AMICA honorary member Carl L. Schneider passed away on November 18th, 1976 in Brooklyn, New York. Mr. Schneider was associated with the Ampico Corporation in the very early days and helped in the developement of the reproducing mechanism as a laboratory technician working under George Stoddard, the inventor. When the Ampico was marketed in the early 20'5, Mr. Schneider transferred to the Service Division where he conducted schools for piano technicians. These men were instructed in the operation, servicing, and repair of the Ampico. These schools were conducted in many cities throughout the country. In addition, Mr. Schneider travelled with many of the recording artists, assisting them in their concerts in which the Ampico played a part. Upon retirement from the Ampico Corporation, Carl Schneider continued to service Ampicos and other automatic musical instruments in the New York area. He also developed an interest in the optical field. |
