We will visit the restored Art-Deco Union Terminal in Cincinnati for lunch and a pipe organ demonstration. Union Terminal has three interesting museums, OMNIMAX Theater, and a fine gift shop.

There will be a tour of the 1895 Basilica of the Assumption modeled after Notre Dame in Paris. There are 82 stained glass windows, including one of the largest in the world. The tour will include an organ recital.

A cruise on an Ohio Riverboat with sightseeing, entertainment and dinner will be on our schedule. This three-story boat is 100% handicap accessible.

A visit to the home and shop of Ron Wehmeier is scheduled. Ron has a beautiful old Cincinnati home with period furnishings. He has a complete shop in connection with his organ installation business. Ron also has a spectacular music room where we will be treated to demonstrations on several of the instruments.

We will also tour the Cincinnati Music Hall, home to the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra and the Cincinnati Symphony. A Mighty Wurlitzer Theater Organ is being restored and installed in the Music Hall by Ron Wehmeier. The Wurlitzer Opus #1680 Style 260SP, 3 Manual, 19 Ranks of 1200 Pipes was originally built for Cincinnati’s RKO Albee Theatre at a cost of $55,000. Unfortunately, this project will not be completed in time for our visit, but we will enjoy the beautiful theater.

We will also visit a newcomer to the Cincinnati scene: EnterTRAINment Junction. Here in over 80,00 square feet you can enjoy a spectacular model train layout of 90 large-scale trains (1200 cars), two miles of track, detailed cities, towns, villages, an 11’ water fall, flowing rivers, a lake, and much more. The layout includes railroading’s Early Period (1830s through the Civil War to late 1890s), the Middle Period (1900 to 1950s) and the Modern Period (1960s to the present). Also included in this virtual railroad theme park is a railroad museum and a gift shop.

If your Wunderlust is still functioning after the scheduled events,
there are a host of other venues in the area:

Newport Aquarium

Hofbräu House

American Sign Museum

Cincinnati Botanical Garden/Zoo

Krohn Conservatory

William Howard Taft Home
